The new Certate HD incorporates some more durable features from the Saltiga lineup into a light weight and smooth freshwater/inshore reel, capable of landing bigger species. The Zaion rotor has been replaced with a precisely cut aluminum, bringing some extra rigidity to prevent rotor flex under high drag loads. The line roller bearing and bail wire shape has been updated. These reels feature a cold forged and machined duralumin main gear, with a new pinion gear based on the Saltiga series.
These reels work well for a large variety of fishing techniques and species, including lighter surf, topwater striper, halibut, redfish, and even yellowtail. If you’re specifically looking for a saltwater or offshore reel in the same size, the Certate SW 4000-6000 are great alternatives but they gain weight for the extra features offered making this HD series a lot more versatile.
